At age sixteen, vegetarian Justine is leaving for veterinary school where her sister is already studying. During an episode of bullying, she is forced to eat meat for the first time in her life – and raw.

Justine comes from a vegetarian family. At age sixteen, she leaves for veterinary school where her sister is already studying. During an episode of bullying, she is forced to eat raw meat. The experience fundamentally changes her, waking a monster from the fragile sleeping girl. With her juicy initiation drama of sexual awakening, Julia Ducournau unabashedly walks in the footsteps of David Cronenberg, master of body horror. Her feature length debut raised critics, viewers and festival jury members alike from their seats.

Awards: Cannes FF 2016: FIPRESCI Prize. London FF 2016: Sutherland Award. Monster Fest 2016: Best Feature, Jury Prize. Austin Fantastic Fest 2016: Best Director. And other prizes.
