“How much indifference can a human hear take?”

This imploring and almost unpleasantly current motion picture tells the story of fifty-year-old Daniel Blake from Newcastle who, after suffering a heart attack, finds himself in an exhausting cycle of paperwork as he attempts to enroll in welfare. While trying to wade through absurd bureaucracies, he meets Katie, a single mother of two who has one chance to avoid ending up in a homeless shelter – take an apartment in an unfamiliar city 300 miles away. Each in their own way, Daniel and Katie try to come to terms with an unjust system without losing the rest of their dignity.
